Phoenix Eileen | Birth Story

photographing the moment a baby enters this world is by far the most amazing thing i will ever have the honor of documenting and being a part of. that first moment you see this beautiful creation is beyond anything i could ever imagine. the anticipation and excitement leading up to that moment is nothing compared to the calmness that washes over you when you when hear the first sounds from that sweet babe and you feel as if your heart could just explode at any moment.

Sarah and I have been through a lot together. although our friendship may be fairly short in years (4) – the moment we met we knew we had something special. ;) we just get it. we just get each other. and anyone who knows Sarah knows she has the kindest heart and most gentle spirit. you just can’t help but want to be around her.

i have been fortunate enough to photograph quite a few births, only for my bestest of friends, considering how intimate of a time this is. but i am consistently blown away by how powerful it is and how unique each story turns out to be.

Phoenix’s story will be told by her mama, via a blog post of her own… so i will save the entire story for her. ;) but my version of THIS part of the story is told in the following b&w images. it began at 10:00pm when i received a text from Sarah saying her water broke and they were headed to the hospital. i arrived around 12:30am – and stayed to document everything until Phoenix’s arrival a little over 12 hours later at 12:52pm on March 25th, 2016!

i love you Leader family. thank you so much for allowing me to be there and to capture these moments for you. xo

This is absolutely beautiful. I am so proud of Sarah & Josiah and know they will be the most amazing parents! Phoenix is so perfect. I can’t stop shedding happy tears :) Lindsey you are such a great friend and these pictures will be cherished forever.
